Mengele Zoo intro

School group project. The assignment was to create a intro for a chosen show.

My role was director, concept artist, 3D artist and animator.

The project:

We chose to make a intro for a TV adaptation of the book "Mengele Zoo" written by Gert Nygaardshaug. The story is about a young man from the rainforest who starts a small eco terror organization to defend nature and indiginous people from destructive coorporations.

Our concept:
The main character, Mino, chooses a blue Morpho butterfly as his sign. In our intro we follow a blue butterfly in a postapocalyptic city where nature is beginning to take over again. In a glitch we see the same scene, but in flames and without the plants. Then glitch back.

The butterfly flies down in a manhole. The sewer is overgrown and rainforest-like. The butterfly flies through overgrown pipes and up the next manhole, where god rays from above are shining down.

As the butterfly comes out of the manhole there is another glitch. The scene shows a car and a man being shot. We glitch back. The car and city is overgrown and there is a skeleton on the ground next to the car. We follow the butterfly in to an alley where it lands on a flower. The wall behind it shows an animated graffiti with the title "Mengele Zoo".
